Pumpkin Seed Demand Continues to Grow
Price Movements： In Jan-Feb 2025, the pumpkin seed market stayed stable overall, though conventional smooth seed prices saw a slight decline.
l From Sep-Dec 2024, China's pumpkin seed exports rose 22% year-on-year, reflecting robust demand. Post-Feb 2025, conventional products are expected to be well-supplied, while organic shortages will grow more pronounced.
l Notably, the Europe and U.S. have tightened pesticide residue standards for pumpkin seeds, boosting organic demand but leading to conventional product oversupply. Despite expanded planting in 2024, organic yields were limited by weather. With declining inventories, the price gap between organic and conventional products is expected to widen.
l In January-February 2025, strikes at multiple ports across several European countries led to widespread port congestion and delays, which are expected to cause tight supply and price rebounds for pumpkin seeds in the European market.
